Why are Hijri and Gregorian ages different?
The Gregorian calendar follows a solar year of roughly 365 days. A lunar Hijri year is about 354 days. That accumulating difference produces a higher Hijri year count even though the elapsed time is identical.

01How do I calculate my exact age?+

02Why is my Hijri age higher than my Gregorian age?+
A lunar Hijri year is about 10 to 11 days shorter than a Gregorian year. More Hijri years therefore pass during the same length of time.
03Which age is correct: Hijri or Gregorian?+
Both are correct within their calendar. Gregorian age is commonly used for civil records, while Hijri age is useful for religious dates and occasions. The calculator shows both.
04Does the calculator store my birth date?+
No. Every calculation runs in your browser. Your birth date is not sent to our servers or saved.
05Can the Hijri date differ by one day?+
Yes. This calculator uses the Umm al-Qura calendar. A local religious authority may observe a date one day earlier or later based on moon sighting.
